Step By Step: Scrapbook Paper Mod Podge Project

Supply List
2 boards of differing sizes (the ones below are 6.5 x 11.5 inches and 4 x 9 inches)
Mod Podge
Scrapbook Paper (cut to size of the large board)
Coordinating craft paint
Sandpaper
Brushes
Vinyl Lettering

STEP ONE: Paint the smaller board completely and paint only the edges of the larger board. Allow to dry.

STEP TWO: Apply Mod Podge over the large board completely, paying special attention to the corners.

STEP THREE: Apply the piece of scrapbook paper over top of the mod podged board.

STEP FOUR: Smooth scrapbook paper down with credit card to remove air bubbles and to make sure it adheres well.

STEP FIVE: Allow to dry and then sand the edges. This removes any overhang of the scrapbook paper. It also helps to seal the edges and corners.

STEP SIX: Apply another coat of Mod Podge over top of the scrapbook paper, again paying special attention to the corners and edges so it seals properly.

STEP SEVEN: Sand edges of smaller board.

STEP EIGHT: Remove backing from vinyl lettering and apply to the smaller board.

STEP NINE: Apply a coat of Mod Podge over smaller board and vinyl lettering to seal & protect vinyl lettering. This also gives both boards a uniform finish.

STEP TEN: Apply wood glue to the back of the smaller board and adhere it to the larger board.

STEP ELEVEN: Put a picture hanger on the back to hang on the wall or display your fun new decoration on an easel!

Step By Step: Vinyl to Wall Application

Here is the "before" picture of a very nice but boring grouping of photos in a hallway. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to apply some fun vinyl lettering directly to the wall in order to spice things up!

STEP ONE: Without removing any of the backing from the vinyl, hold it up to the wall and "eyeball" about where you would like it to be.

STEP TWO: In order to make sure the lettering is level, find a common letter in your saying and make sure it is the same distance from the bottom as the other letter in the saying (we use the "e" below).

STEP THREE: After you have your vinyl in place, mark the corners with a pencil on the wall.

STEP FOUR: Remove the backing of the vinyl lettering.

STEP FIVE: Line up the corners with the markings you've made on the wall for placement.

STEP SIX: Using a credit card, smooth out the tape and lettering, adhering it to the wall.

STEP SEVEN: Remove the transfer tape carefully. The most effective way is to hold it as close to the wall as possible as you pull it downward.

STEP EIGHT: Stand back and admire your work and love your new vinyl lettering!
